Calling All Rodders,

Have you looked outside it is snowing! It 's that time of year when we all crawl into the garage and start those winter restoration projects. I hope you all have plenty of ideas to keep you busy and make the winter months go by quickly.

I have already started to get dates for the 2009 car event season coming in. Club members please don't forget to get me your contact information..to list on the club listing page. Send your car events to me and get them listed quickly. A lot of people plan their car events around vacations and traveling.

I am excited about getting the site ready for the 2009 season. I would welcome any ideas or comments about how I could improve the web site for you. I know everyone is using the event schedule page but the directory itself does not seem to be catching on, So your comments are welcome.

Peak n Peak Clymer NY

Calling All Rodders,

It is October and the day a sunny 80 degrees at the Peak. The count on the cars at this years car show was 650 but I am sure there were many more than that. They were lined up every where on the Peak n Peak grounds today. The tree lines were beautiful as the fall colors exploded across the fields.

They had crafts for the ladies and pumpkin launchers for the spectators , a petting zoo for the kids, and cars, cars, and more cars for the guys to see.

There is one more show of the season coming up next weekend. The Fall Fest at the Erie County Fairgrounds in Wattsburg, PA They are having the show during the day followed by a sock hop in the evening you can get more information on the http://www.callingallrodders.com/ site under the event page.

Hope to see you there. Keep Cruizin...

Franklin Applesfest

Calling All Rodders,

It is Apple Fest time in Franklin, PA. So in our cars we go... beautiful drive down to Franklin, PA on Sunday to enjoy the cars and crafts in the area. They were alot of people from Erie that took the time to enjoy the day in Franklin also. They have a car show every year and I believe they pre reg cars and the cut off is 500 cars. They had them parked all down the sides and up the middle of the streets around the park.

If you haven't taken the time to go to this area at applefest time, you should it's a nice drive and it always nice to go to different areas and see what everyone is driving. The leaves are starting to turn so it was a preety drive also for a sunday afternoon.

Cruise the Bay

Calling All Rodders,
Another fantastic night at the bay front. Although fall feels like it is in the air the gang at the bay was still there. Only a few more of these great nights left this season so be sure to come down. I believe they go until the end of September.

I want to one of the people who thank you for letting us join you on the bay front and sit with friends and fellow car enthusiasts. A lot is traded down there among these car people. Every thing from car troubles to personal troubles and great place to meet and sort out all of life's trials and tribulations. Also a great place to celebrate life's wonderful moments too. A great place to meet new friends and stay connected with old friends.

It's hard to believe that soon summer will be over and it will seem like forever before we see a lot of these people again in the spring. So don't miss the opportunity to get together, come on down and join us on the Bayfront for the Monday night Cruise the Bay event.

It's been a great summer, enjoy the ride!

The Last Buggin State of the Season.

Calling All Rodders,
Well Friday night was the last Buggin State for the 2008 season. What a great turn out and the weather was perfect. Again as usual the turn out was phenomenal. Both sides of the street and two rows down the center. Who would have thought there was that many cars in the Erie Area.

We saw the Mayor enjoying the festivities also and were sure to mention how much we would like more of these special nights. This has been a great year for the car events in our area it seems there was more participation than ever before this year. Every event we had time to get to this year has been very successful.

Thank you all for supporting the hard work these car clubs and special event people put forth for your enjoyment.

See you at the next event!

Annual Gotchling Picnic

Calling All Rodders,
Saturday was a beautiful day for the annual Gotchling Picnic. Bob and Bobbie Gotchling have been hosting an annual picnic rain or shine, for many years, and as usual it was filled to the brim with cars and people. The setting around their pond makes a great backdrop for the cars and everyone gets to share their favorite recipes. The food is unbelievable. Walleye and Perch was the hot item this year, as fast as it came out of the fryer it was devoured!!

We want you to know how much we appreciate your great hospitality every year guys, thank you for the great picnic and fellowship.

Calling all Rodders,
Hi Cruisers, well the Monday night Cruise the Bay was another success, with appox 275 cars showing up this week. They were lined up all around the park n ride area. We had friends in from out of town and they were impressed with the support of the local car owners at this show.
They couldn't believe that every Monday night they had this going on and at no entrance fee!! What a great feeling to know that they saw the fellowship and local charity help that our area provides. Thank you Cruisers for being there...See ya at the next event...Don't forget to check the event page at http://www.callingallrodders.com/ to find out where to go next..

Monday Night Cruise

Calling All Rodders,
The Monday Night cruises as you can see have become a great hit. The weather this summer has been cooperating with us so we have been able to have great turn outs.
This club does a great job at keeping us entertained as well. Tonight's fun event was hula hoops. Now I don't know about you, but it's been along time since I was able to do this. But of course the young at heart still can make those hoops swing. Fun was had by all as they tried to keep the hula hoops rolling. Come on down on Mondays at the bay front and join in the festivities and see the cars.
See at the next cruise!

Calling All Rodders Needs You!!

Calling All Rodders,
Hi Cruisers..I hope you all have seen the new feature added to the website. On the events page I have added a new guest book in hopes that you will sign and leave your comments about what you would like to see on the site or things I can do you make it more appealing to your needs.

There has been a lot of talk about the site that I am hearing at the shows but I would love to hear these things first hand from all of you.

I originally started the site to help keep you all connected, that is still my goal. I would like to see more clubs use the club page to advertise their club contact info. I also would like to have more input from other cruisers about shows they have been to as I cannot get to every show.

Many clubs put in a lot of time and effort to get these shows set up for our enjoyment. Being a club member for many years in many different kinds of organizations I know how much work this is. They depend on you to make them a success.

Please continue to support these events, so we can keep having fun in the Erie area.

Hope to see you at the next car event....drop me a line.. or look me up at the shows.. with your thoughts or concerns... Have a great Summer...

Music filled the air as you walked around and saw all the cars, and reminisced with friends. Food coupons were handed out as you came in, the burgers are GREAT here also. Make sure you make it inside to have one. They do a nice job for this show so if you don't have anything to do on Friday night, jump in your car and ride down to Backyard Burger and join in the fun.

Buggin State Street

Calling All Rodders,
Well, it was a successful night for the first Buggin State of the season. Cars lined both sides of the street from 4th to 14th street on State Street in Erie, PA. If you haven't experience this cruise in, you need to.

Back in the day it was the thing to do on the weekend's you would get in your cars and cruise up and down state street. It was a great meeting place, and a time to show off what you had in your car. From paint jobs to engines. Guys and Gals alike cruise the strip.

Well, the car enthusiasts of Erie are trying to restore the nostalgic times with a summer Buggin State Street schedule. One a month or so in the summer they have us all bring our cars down and reminisce about those fun days in the 50's and 60's. A lot of people from your past show up and you end up reliving those ole days of fun. People you haven't seen in years seems to find up down there.

Cars for sale, parts found, engine questions answered all for the asking. A lot of people with a lot of answers to your car problems.

In the park they have music, and souvenir sales, food, the local restaurants were full with hungry cruisers. It's a great family fun night. So put on your walking shoes and come down and join us for the next Buggin State Street, you won't be diappointed if you like cars. You name it it seems to be here.

Happy Cruisin!!

Cruise the Bay

Calling All Rodders,
Another great night at the Bay. Cars lined up the Park n Ride to capacity again. I even talk to a few people who were there for the first time and said, "WOW I didn't know they did this every Monday this is great!" They didn't realize Erie had so many car collectors.

We did have a problem with burn outs, The port authority is watching and has requested that we stop the burn outs or they will have to shut it down. An announcement was made but, they are a few who didn't listen. We really need to get this under control because we want to be able to enjoy this cruise in. It is a great location, The Lake Erie Classics do a great job at organizing this event and we owe it to them to follow the rules.

See ya at the next cruise!!

Erie Area Car Owners Fill Shows!!

Calling All Rodders,
Well there was plenty to do this weekend in the Erie area. Here are just few....

Friday night they had the Backyard Burger Cruise In, and from the reports I got it was a big success. There was good food and plenty of cars to see. Cruisers are looking forward to this every Friday night event. There will NOT be a Backyard Burger Cruise In on the Buggin State Street Friday Nights, so we won't have to chose between the two events.

Saturday, the Vietnam Vets of America Chapter 435 held their 5th Car Show at the Soldiers and Sailors home at East 3rd & Ash Streets in Erie, from 12- 3 pm with a Picnic Lunch. This is always a nice show to attend. The Vets at the home enjoy it as well with many old stories of old cars floating among the guests. ERIEZ Speedway Drivers also are there for a meet and greet.

Sunday, Historic Waterford had the 33rd Annual Antique Auto Show Presented by Presque Isle Region AACA. It was a beautiful setting for this show all cars 1927 or older were treated with free registration. 1983 and older cars of all classes were also welcome. The had a nice turn out and they put on a nice show every year in June with free spectator admission, door prizes, food.

In Harborcreek, there was the Dave Layton Memorial Cruise In held at the Municipal Building on Buffalo Rd. Again the attendance was great. This shows donations benefit the Make a Wish Foundation.

Rex and I try to attend as many of the car events as we can find the time to get to. We of course can't get to them all. I only write about the ones that people report to me about or that we have attended personally. If any of you would like to add your comments to the blog about shows you have attended please feel free to do so. Although,I do ask that you limit your comments to positive feed back only. Groups and Organizations work hard on this events, we want to promote fellowship and fun at these events so that other car enthusiasts from all over enjoy
our tri -state area events as well.

See ya at the next car event!!!

What a beautiful night!!

Calling All Rodders,
If you made it to the bayfront on Monday for the park n ride gathering, you were lucky.
What a great night to be on the bay. The weather was beautiful and the cars were plentiful..

Monday was one of the biggest shows, they were lined up all over the park n ride. It was great to see all our old friends and car buddies. It is a great place to catch up on the winter goings on and the new projects started for this year.

A lot a talk about gas prices , but it seems everyone still wants to get around to as many shows and gatherings as they can this summer.

Erie area car events are multiplying each year. It is nice to see the community and car enthusiasts support these functions and continue to grow. Keep up the good work. The people that organize these functions put in alot of time and work to put them on, and they do it for you ,the car enthusiast so keep up the good work in participating and supporting the causes that they help support.

See ya at the next event!!

Mopars,Mopars, and more Mopars.

Calling All Rodders,
Today was the Lake Erie Tri State Mopar show and swap meet in Albion, Pa. They had beautiful weather and that brought out many mopar owners. The last couple of years they have had to deal with rainy weather and this was a great change for them.

The Albion Fairgrounds were covered in all makes and models of Mopars. They also had many venders and parts people. There were dash plaques and goodie bags to the first 200 cars, and there were well over that number of cars at todays event.

If you have not had a chance to see this event and are a mopar fan you owe to yourself to make sure you get there next year. This was their 23rd year putting on the show and they have it down to a fine art. It is a well run show with trophies and prizes galore, fellowship and fun was had by all.

Mark your calanders to join in the event for next year.
See you at the next event!

First Assembly of God 6th Annual show !

Calling All Rodders,
Well the weather was cool and the winds were blowing but the cruisers and car enthusiasts were still out at the car, truck, and motorcycle show that was held at the "First Assembly of God Church on Oliver Road in Erie, Sat May 17, 2008." It was a rain or shine event and many cruisers took advantage of that and showed off their winter projects and upgrades. The rain drops were fallen here and there and the dry off towels were getting a work out.

Door prizes, activities, dash plaques, music, chinese auctions, food concessions even kettle corn was available for this event. The local bloodmobile was even there for convenient donations.

Proceeds benefited the Royal Family Kids Camp, the event was free and open to the public. Make sure if you missed this event you try to get to it next year.

Getting the Word Out!

Calling All Rodders,
The cruising has started and it's time to get the word out about the new fellowship site we are building. I have had a lot of positive feedback from the public and feel this is going to become a great site for area cruises and car collectors.

Don't forget to inform your friends of this new site so we can get this built up quickly and provide a one stop web presence for fellow cruises. Remember to let them know this is a membership site and membership drive has started. Keeping an up to date and informative site is our goal to unite area cruises and car collectors together.

Thanks again to all who have helped get this up and running so quickly.

Calling All Rodders,
Well, the weather has been wonderful this week and the car covers are off and the last minute projects are getting completed. I have already seen many cruisers riding past our home and getting the dust blown off those custom cars. It's always a sure sign of spring when you hear those engines rolling by. I have had many comments on the new site and appreciate the excitment of people checking things out. So far only a couple corrections to the events page.
