Summit Racing Equipment Tallmadge, Ohio

Calling All Rodders,
Today, we rode over to Tallmadge, Ohio.   What is there you might say?  Summit Racing Equipment.

This store is like a giant candy store for my husband, LOL.  We pulled in and his eyes glazed over and the mental shopping began.  This was going to be a long shopping trip I could tell.  After roaming over the store, and grazing at the scratch and dent sale they were having this weekend, it was off to the ordering counter.  Friends of ours, and  I roamed the store in search of our own bargains.  Each of us filled our basket with things and headed off to the cashier.  It was there that I hear my husband say to the couple behind us, " Oh she won't be happy when we get to the counter and she finds out I spent about $550.00."  Little does he know that I expected he would spend more so I was happy, he controlled himself some LOL.  Good thing for him I love the cars as much as he does.  The car parts bill is usually not a problem at our house.  All in all it was a nice day, We continued on thru Amish Country to the Middlefield Cheese factory for some fresh curd and beef sticks and a nice ride home.  It was a good day!

Two Local Car Shows on Sunday

Calling All Rodders,

Over the weekend we attended two local car events.  The first was in Waterford PA at the Gazebo Park.  This event is in it's 37th year, and put on by the Presque Isle Region A A C A Club. The park setting is a perfect back drop for the antique cars that line the park every June.  They do a nice Job.

The second show we attended was in Harborcreek, PA.  This was the fifth year for the Dave Layton Memorial Cruise In.  Held at the Harborcreek Municipal Building and again under the trees this is an excellent show put on by a few people.  They do a great job and grow bigger every year.  Great job  guys!

CruiseTown Erie Returns In 2012

Calling All Rodders,

It's that time of year again!  CruiseTown Erie has returned and by the look of the crowd that gathered here on Friday night, it is a well liked local event!  Rumor has it we had over 1000 cars parked up and down State Street in Erie, PA.  Coming from all over the tri-state area!  This event always draws a big crowd and has much to see and do in the downtown area.  George Lyons from Contemporary Motor Car is the sponsor of this event and has worked hard to ensure that we continue to have this event on an annual basis.  We have three dates scheduled for t his event this year 6-8, 7-27, 9-7.  The time is from 6pm to 10pm.  The weather was beautiful in Erie that evening.  Making the stroll up and down State street to check out all the local rides a pleasure.  Here for your enjoyment are a few pictures of the evening.  If you didn't make the first one make sure you make time to come to this Annual Erie, PA event I guarantee you won't be disappointed!

Calling All Rodders,

Today was back to school days for me. My Nephew Ben Powers was presenting his class project and it was about cars! It was a nice afternoon and it is great to know that the love of cars is being passed down through the ages.

Ben Powers School Project
Parts Table
1969 Owned by Lance Proctor
1970 Owned by Colleen Surrena
1968 Owned by Rex Diemer

1979 Owned by Peter Shaffer

We all lined up at the Fort Le Bouef Foot Ball field, Ben's Class came down to learn about the racing through the years of performance cars. Ben did an awesome job at explaining the changes through the years in motors and the reasons for some of these changes. He was well informed and capture his audience attention with his great demonstration. He had asked a few of us to display our cars for him as he did his presentation. The title of his report was , "Chevy racing through the years." Ben had arranged to have a 1979 Chevy Corvette owned by Peter Shaffer, a 1968 Dodge Coronet owned by Rex Diemer, ( The Mopar car was for comparison of different muscle cars through the years not only those made by Chevrolet) a 1969 Chevy Truck owned by Lance Proctor, and a 1970 Chevy Nova owned by Colleen Surrena. Ben also had on display various motor parts for demonstration.
The class seemed very interested in his demonstration. We even had a few passer bys stop in to see what was going on. Great job Ben ! Thanks for letting us be a part of your demonstration.
