Today we were off to Mt. Dora Florida to attend the Guitars and Cars Show. This event is held the second Sunday of every month two swap meets in one. The Musicians swap meet and the Car & Cycle swap meet and car show.

It was a rather chilly day today so the attendance was down, but the sun was shining and the air was filled with music.
Car Custom restoration and modifications do general mechanics, bumper to bumper no job too simple or to big, came to show off the latest project. What a beauty...

Many swap meet parts to examine along the way. Mr Ed Stiles a carburetor rebuilder was there also buying and selling carbs and talking shop with Rex. All in all it was a good day can't wait to go to this event again.

Cruise Town Erie 2012

Things to do.... We got up early this morning and traveled to Kissimmee Florida to experience the Mecum Auto Auction what a great experience. Tents and tents of beautiful cars waiting for buyers.
They have been selling cars for 25 years and they have this function running smoothly. This event runs 4 days and is televised on the Velocity channel by Discovery.There is make and model of every kind here. All in all is was a great day and worth the drive. We will go again next year. Maybe as a bidder then!

A fun day in Daytona Beach

Today's fun was in Daytona Beach Florida. First stop a drive on the beach with friends Ron & Jean from Canada. There we found the Daytona Free Style event going on a competion with jet skis, Awesome site!

Next we are off to find a place to eat... And it was a wonderful BBQ place!
Where to next lets go check out Daytona Speedway... we get there and they are doing practice runs for the Daytona 500! And the best part admission to the speedway today is FREE...Bonus!!

American Classic Motor Cars

Well we have made it to the sunny south although its been cool, we have enjoyed our trip. Today, we were out driving around looking for a Harbor Freight Store when we came across this nice shop in Ocala Florida. They are called American Classic Motor Cars. They Buy, Sell, and Consign Classic and Antique Automobiles, with a full service Department and ASE Certified Techs.

They have 17000 sq ft of showroom.

Here are a few of the cars we saw while there. Some of these cars are sheduled to go the Mecum Car Auction at the end of Jan. Hope you enjoy the pictures.

On behalf of the Make-A-Wish Foundation of Greater Pennsylvania and Southern West Virginia, I want to thank you for your choosing the Foundation to once again receive the proceeds from Cruise the Bay’s weekly 50/50 drawings and event T-shirt sales, along with cash donations from your Wishing Well donors and food vendors, from May – September 2011. We are thrilled that your proceeds totaled $1,900 ($200 more than last year – congratulations!), which we received on October 21, 2011. We will be pleased to recognize your donation on our web site and in our annual report.

One hundred percent of your gift will be dedicated to wish-granting expenses and help fund the wish of children like this special seven-year old girl. While the family asks that her name be kept private, I am able to share with you her story. She suffers from Pallister-Killian Syndrome which is an extremely rare genetic disorder. The stress and complications of this disorder can be unbearable for anyone, let alone a seven-year old kid.

When this little girl met with volunteers, they learned that she absolutely loves the water. From her perspective, spending time in the water is fun, but from her mom’s perspective it’s also therapeutic. A hot tub would be the perfect oasis for her to relax and escape from her sickness, and something she could enjoy year-round.

With a little Make-A-Wish magic, we found a vendor who had the perfect hot tub in stock. In less than a week, the hot tub was unveiled to a very happy seven-year-old girl; she couldn’t stop smiling. She hangs out and plays in it every day. Her parents are amazed at the joy and pleasure this wish has given her.

Thank you for your donation. Without your help, we would not be able to do what we do. Because of you, this little girl and her family are now able to experience an emotion other than sadness and fear. They are happy, excited and relaxed. Thank you again for your continuous support and generosity.

Today, we put to rest a fellow street rodder. Jim Nuber, a great man who has influenced many car builders over the years. His wealth of knowledge and unselfish nature filled the car builders world

Many of you may have past through Jim's life and many more of you have learned some great lessons. There wasn't a mechanical problem he would not tackle and usually had it figured out before you picked up the first tool. He was a devoted Husband, Father, and Grandfather as well as a true friend he would drop everything for you in a minute.

He spent alot of his time with his family and friends going to car cruises and camping all over the United States. And for many years, towed his camper with his 39 and Holding Sedan. He will be greatly missed by all, but left us with wonderful stories and memories. He
will live in our hearts forever.

The 2011 Cruise the Bay season has come to an end. The thank you notes are being mailed to our sponsors, and to all of those who helped The Bay go and grow, our Make A Wish donation is in the mail and of course thoughts and plans are starting up for 2012. but first we want to give a short summary report.

We had 16 cruises, and saw many cars, bikes, trucks and spectators visit us our the summer. our Cruise the Bay 50/50 and event T-shirt sale along with cash donations from our Wishing Well donors and our food vendors have enabled us to send a $1900.00 donation to the Erie Area Make A Wish Foundation which will be earmarked for a local child's wish. we were blesses with 7 perfect evenings-gorgeous Erie weather with beautiful sunsets, 1 rain the area but not on the Bayfront night, 1 true rain out , 3 rain came ending the nights early and 4 evenings although not perfect we can call then can't complain nights. We once again welcomed visitors from a variety of cities, states, and some Canadian provinces as well! What a lovely cruise season it was.

Again thank you to everyone who cruised in,sold and bought 50/50 tickets and/or T-shirts, handed out door prize tickets, gave out our silly cruiser gifts, helped or participated in the various contests, cleaned up, set up,promoted--you get the idea. Thank YOU!!! One and all for making 2011 Cruise the Bay season a fun and enjoyable time for all of us. We look forward to doing it again in 2011.

To start off the 2012 season we will hold our winter fund raiser, the "Snowflake Cruise In"

a dinner and dance on Saturday, February 11th at the Bel-Aire Hotel. More details to follow.

"My 409"

Calling All Rodders,

For the past few weeks friends of ours, Geoff & Linda have been scouring the country side. Geoff was on a mission to find a "Chevy Impala 409". Linda wasn't as sure as Geoff, but off we go to Toledo Ohio one Sunday morning. Geoff was sure he had found just the right car! He was so excited and sure he was bringing home a car that day! It was raining in Erie that morning, but we soon drove out of the rain and the sun began shining, lighting our way to Geoff's Dream Car!

We rounded the corner and there she stood gleaming in the sunlight! She is a good looking car but as we quickly told Geoff, "calm down we need to get under the hood and crawl all over her to make sure you are getting what you want". The anticipation was killing Geoff. Linda was just as anxious, because she didn't want to jump to soon and regret their purchase.

After about an hour of inspecting and taking her for a ride we left. Now, to discuss the purchase on the way home to Erie. Geoff was hooked but was willing to listen to all of us as we pointed out the things he needed to consider if he bought that particular car.

He was ready to make his offer. Monday morning he made the call and by Wednesday his dream was in his driveway. It was like Christmas morning! The excitement was in the air as they brought the car out and took it for their first ride around the peninsula. What a beauty.

Now, out to his buddy Rex's garage for some fine tuning and tweaking. Rex and Geoff have spent the last week tweaking and tuning the car to perfection. After a morning of adjusting it was down the road for a test run. Geoff's smile was as big as the car when he came back from his test run. As, he just sat in the garage listening to her purr.

This is what this hobby is all about, good friends getting together to share their knowledge and sharing in the excitement of a new project and finally driving down the road with the pride of a new car owner. It was fun for us to be honored with chance to be a part of Geoff and Linda's new project. We are sure they will have many hours of enjoyment traveling around to the local car events. Make sure you look for the Red "409" Chevy Impale at the bay front next season. If you watch close you may even see it out this year as the season comes to an end.

Fall Festival and Car Show at Peak & Peek 2011

Fall is in the air... Pumpkins are flying and cars are gathering!

Where in Clymer New York at the Peak & Peek Resort. Another great show this year as the ski slops are turned into show grounds for the Tri State Local Car enthusiast's!

As the weather cooperated and the turning of the leaves added color to the country side, the local and not so local cruisers filled the slopes. They had crafts, food, a petting zoo, kettle corn, prizes and punkin chunkin. Something for everyone. What a great way to end the season in our area.

The shows are getting fewer and further apart as the air gets chiller but there is still some great fun to be had out there. Enjoy the fall and be safe.

Watch the Blog for our adventures in the southern states as we search out beautiful cars and shows in the sunny south. Don't forget to get you car event information to me for next year as soon as you can as the calendar is always waiting to be filled up with great events to get ready for in 2012. Thank you for making Cruisetown Erie a success again this year!

Because of your love for this event George Lyons went to bat for us and got this event continued. And you have proved to him that his efforts were not in vane. Again the street was lined with awesome cars from all over the Tri-State area.

We started parking on the streets around 5:15 and quickly the parking was filled in on State Street all the way down to the park and around the park and even further.

With the weather creeping up to 93 degrees the streets were filled with spectators and cars enjoying those last few car events that are scheduled in our area. All of us knowing that summer is closing here and soon we will be in our garages working on these cars not enjoying the ride of a summer night.

It always amazes me how many cars we have in our area and what a great group of people you all are. These events show us just how many people still keep this great hobby ( the true love of cars) alive.

Keep it up see you next year at the next Cruisetown Erie! Good job Cruisers!

Halloween comes early to Cruise The Bay

Monday Night again brought local cruisers down to the Bayfront in Erie, PA. Tonight's show was sponsored by Hoffman Glass and the theme of the party was Halloween Night.

Cruisers enjoying the festivities!

We even had the dogs coming dressed for the occasion!

Cars filled the Park n Ride and participant's enjoyed the festivities and came adorned in their costumes for the costume contest.

Baby's came from the pumpkin patch!

Victorian ladies roamed the park!

Santa was there enjoying his vacation!

They all came to have fun... Many others roamed the area bringing Halloween early to the Cruise the Bay event!

Some cruisers decorated their cars for the event. No matter what Monday night you come down this is the kind a family fun you will find there. Always a theme and fun playful contests and awesome cars to see. The season is almost over but you still have a few Monday nights to enjoy. Remember we do not have a show on Labor Day but we will be there again Sept 12, 2011 and you might even get a glimpse at Marilyn Monroe that night! Dream Cruise 2011 Detroit Michigan

Calling All Rodders,

World's Most Popular Car Cruise and largest one-day automotive event. Annually the 3rd Saturday of August on Woodward Avenue just north of Detroit in Michigan. Rain or shine.

This year was no exception, the show was held and the weather held off for the first part of the day. Around 5pm they were hit with a down pour and the show was shut down for a little bit. As crews handled down lines and a couple of small fires in the area cause by high winds and lighting.

But that didn't dampen the spirits of those cruisers who came from miles in all directions to enjoy the show. This show stretches for miles up and down Woodward Ave. Each town along the way has there own event going on with entertainment. This year we went for two days and still didn't see even half of what is out there. It is well worth the drive to go, if you get a chance next year plan to attend.

Guinness World Records longest Jeep Parade, Butler PA

Today's adventure took us to Butler, PA. Friends of ours own a 1959 Jeep Willys at 10 am this morning we left with them to go to Butler PA. There we found 1200 Jeeps of every Year, Make and Model making their way to the Butler Community College.

Why? You may ask...
Because the was a jeep parade going on there trying to become a Guinness World Records Longest Jeep Parade at the Bantam Jeep Heritage Festival!

Once there we were lined up according to decades, and registration began...at 1pm.
We unloaded the trailer dropped off the Jeep then ran our trailer to the other side of town and took a shuttle back up to the College to be part of the 6pm Parade. This process was slow and took most of the afternoon but we laughed and had fun along the way the town was filled with jeeps everywhere!

Promptly at 10 to 6 we lined up and began the 3 mile parade route thru down town Butler. Once we reach the downtown area we all were parked along the streets were 100's of spectators lined the streets to see the parade and enjoy the Jeep show.

1200 Jeeps registered for the show, they figure the had at least 1500 Jeeps come thru town I believe the event was a success. It was awesome to see that many Jeeps in on place the were from 1938 to 2012.

We had a great time and want to thank our friends Pat & Beth for inviting us along!

Cruise the Bay Aug 8-2011

We tell you all the time to join us at the Bayfront Park & Ride on Monday Nights in the summer. Well, tonight we want to show you why....

This is a great family outing, Mom... gets dinner out we have the Weenie Wagon or the Tasty Twist supplying dinner for us each Monday night...Dad ...gets to see all the great cars and motors...the Kids... get to particapate in the great fun and game themes of the evening.

Tonight's theme was drag racing,complete with our own green starter flag women "Kora". Now this is not your typical drag racing this is done on car creepers, one rider, one pusher!
Tonight we had participents of all ages. I believe our youngest drag racer ever in the history of the "Cruise the Bay Drags" is Madaline 3 years old and excited to go. So excited that she popped right off backwards as the race stared but she held on tight and rode the race out. A natural at drag racing, John Force would have been proud!

We had 7 teams we names like Crash & Burn, Go-1st, Red Devils,Cobras, Hit it, Factory Riders, and Wheelies. The two man team runs the course, a whopping 18 feet!
Each eliminating the other until one team is left and declared the winner and receives their trophies. Tonight's winners are Dan & Andrew of the Red devils!
All in good fun and entertainment. And this is just one of the shows this year. You never know what fun games and competitions they will come up with next. Come on down and join the fun and see what you are missing! See ya at the next car event!

3rd Annual Thunder in the City Meadville, PA

We hope you had a chance to take in "Thunder in the City" this weekend in Meadville, PA. This event has been held for the last three years and each year it gets better.
Friday they had the park filled with motorcycles and entertainment then on Saturday they again filled the park with a car show.

A very nice turn out. There was music in the air from all corners, as the bands played in the Gazebo and the Main Stage. Eight different bands played thru out the days and there was plenty of other entertainment going on down Chestnut Street. Vendors and food filled the area.

19th Annual Syracuse Nationals 2011

Calling All Rodders,

We have just returned from three fun filled days in Syracuse NY at the state fairgrounds. There we enjoyed over 9000 cars and 82,000 spectators filling the grounds with some very impressive iron.

A tram runs none stop around the fairgrounds if you get to tired to walk. So there is no reason to miss anything! There is something to look at on every inch of the fairgrounds. From Swap meet stuff, to new. The wealth of car information available here is unbelievable. Someone there knows the answer to your car related question.

This is our second year there and enjoyed it as much this time as before. Special Guests this year Happy Days ...Fonzi...Joanie...Shirley were invited, vendors, car corals, pin strippers, tech shops, food, fun and awesome bands. They end the night with fire throwers, fireworks and music.

As the cruisers return to the hotels many hotels have BBQ and we line the street to watch the cars go by!! FUN Weekend can't wait to go back next year!!

Then back to the hotels for BBQ,s and watchin the street cruzin.

The Lake Shore Street Rod Association Harbor Cruise In Dunkirk NY

Today, We followed friends up to Dunkirk NY. Once there we found Gratiot Park filled to capacity with awesome cars and friendly people.

We have heard about this show for a couple of years but never had the chance to get to it. Well, this year we did and we were not disappointed. The Lake Shore Street Rod Association with the cooperation from the City of Dunkirk present Harbor Cruise.

And we have to say they do a very nice job with this show. Located right on the banks of Lake Erie the setting is beautiful and park is a wonderful backdrop for the array of cars they get. This is definitely a show we will put on our calender of things to do for next summer. Mark your calenders and follow us up next year, we are sure you will enjoy the ride and the show.

CruiseTown Erie Comes again July 8, 2011

Calling All Rodders,

I hope you made it to the CruiseTown Erie Event, tonight! What A GREAT turnout! The streets again were filled to capacity, and the weather could not have been better.

State Street between 4th and 12th was lined up with every kind of car you could imagine from classics to new, muscle cars to street rods, racers and trucks. Every make and model was there to make the event another success.

This is a great event, and as some of you know it was almost cancelled last year. Thank you all for making this something that Erie can not ignore.

Many many cars came in from New York and Ohio along with our very own local community participation.

People have proven that this is a favorite and we have one more scheduled in September. Thank you George Lyons from Contemporary motor Cars for your support in keeping this event in Erie. we as cruisers appreciate your efforts.

• Hello, my name is Rick Frantz I am a photographer and recent graduate of Edinboro Univ. in Edinboro PA, for photography and animation. I have just been chosen for a two month long residency program through the school. The goal of this residency is build a resume and portfolio for a beginning photo career, my goal is to do this and create a photo show for a gallery showing by photographing hot rods, rat rods, muscle cars, and the people who own them, chop them channel them, restore them to original or just live the lifestyle of a hot rodder ie. dressing like a pinup, or greaser from the 40's, 50's, or 60's era. Classic cars no matter what they are is something I have always loved thanks to my father and mother. I own a 1970 Torino rag top my father and I just restored. I want to tell the stories of other people that are into hot rodding, even if there ride isn't finished or it's just been sitting for years and they just don't want to sell it, or they don't drive it anymore, or they don't own any now but still have something to give to this project. I know this is bit long for an email but I want to try and explain what the purpose of this email and project is as much as possible. I live in Erie, PA I am hoping you can help me let people who are in my area or will be in the area and are interested in being part of this that I would welcome hearing from them and possibly working with them. As you know we attended the Father's Day Car Show in Hermitage PA, this year. While there we ran into Vince Miller, from New Castle, PA. this man goes all out in enjoying his car hobby.

Vince, purchased his ride from California. His car was donated to a local charity in California, to be sold to help fund the charity. After purchasing his 1973 Cadillac Hearse he unwrapped the 400 dollar casket and installed it into the car...then came the unusual part. He went to E-Bay and started looking for a rider. And believe it or not he won the bid on a REAL HUMAN SKELETON, this skeleton is supposed to be a female between the age of 18-21. Vince even took the skeleton to a local photographer and had his picture taken with her. As we stood by the car talking to him he told every one, "to come closer and take a look touch things if you want this is a touch me please car, ask me questions" this guy takes his ride serious and finds the subject matter very interesting! So, you see "its not always the same ole cars at a car show" sometimes you find the unusual and interesting people there also!

Fathers Day 2011 in Hermitage PA

A beautiful sunny day and Father's Day too. What shall we do? I know lets ride down to Hemitage PA and check out the Father's Day Car Show they have each year. That's how our morning conversation started. So off we went....

Father's Day in Hermitage Pa is a car lovers Paradise. Each year on Father's Day the town of Hermitage hosts a car show in downtown Hermitage. Cars of every make and model show up to join in the festivities.

Just a "few hundred" people lined the streets this year to check out the coolest rides. Trucks, Street rods, Muscle Cars, Classics, and Speciality car were among the participants. Radio stations, and the town Businesses all come out and support the show.

This show is about one and half hours from Erie, but well worth the ride. Registration was $ 10.00 per car and over 100 trophies were awarded at the end of the day. We saw alot of new iron and some old favorites from the Erie, PA area. The people are all friendly and glad you came to see their show. we will make this a favorite and plan to enjoy the Father's Day show again next year! Thank you Hermitage, we had a great time. It's Monday Night and it has begun! CRUISE THE BAY 2011 Season officially started tonight! Jack & Judy Miller and a host of helpers have organized a great season again so make Monday nights, your go to the Bayfront night!

We watched the weather all day wondering if we would be lucky enough to get this event started. And low and behold the sun appeared and stayed out long enough for us all to get parked and set up for the evening. For a while it was a beautiful night.

Our very own DJ Bill was there with his lovely wife Beth. Make sure to congratulate the happy new couple on their recent marriage!

We started off the evening with the National Anthem sung by Adele Stewart. What a wonderful job she did, Thank you Adele. Then the American Legion Post 773, honored us with the Flag Ceremony. Followed by the Blessing of the cars.

Each Monday Night event is sponsored by a Local business, tonights event was sponsored by PJ AUTO SOUND. The 50/50 each night is to benefit our local Make-A-Wish Foundation.

It was great to see old friends and meet new friends down at the Park Ride on the Bayfront Highway. Many cars filled the park, a smaller crowd than usual but as the weather gets better you will see the park filled to capacity so don't miss this cruise In.

This event is held every Monday Night Except Memorial Day and Labor Day, from May to Sept.

Cruise-Town Erie is a success!

Thank You for supporting the 1st Cruise-Town Erie of the season. It is important for all to know how important these cruises are to our community. And a Special Thanks to George Lyons of Contemporary Motors for your sponsorship to keep this event in Erie.

With that said, although the air was chilly many people filled State Street to enjoy the evening fun. All winter long we have been polishing and preparing for the cruise season to start. And they came out in groves!! State Street was line up and down with cars of every shape size and kind.

Parking was to start at 6pm but many cruisers were there by 4pm. The Police had them parking by 5:30pm. This gave the downtown workers time to get on their way home before State Street was blocked off. Please follow the rules in parking to ensure that we continue to have these events. No Parking in the crosswalks as all East & West streets stay open and thru traffic will still be coming and going. Please No Parking in front of the Fire Hydrants. All parking will be filled down each side of the street before parking in the middle begins. Once the blocks are full and there are no more parking spaces available, the police will have to turn you away, so plan accordingly. Thank you to all who obeyed these rules. The safety of all involved is the primary concerned of our Police Department.

This event draws in car enthusiasts from all around the area not just Erie. It is great way for the public to visit our downtown area. Great job organizers, and cruisers and spectators.
This is only the first of three events scheduled for this season. The next will be in July followed by another in Sept. Mark your calenders and make sure you are there!

Big Daddy Don Garlits Rats and Rods Show

Yesterday, we spent the day at Don Garlits Drag Museum in Ocala Florida. They were having the Rats & Rods car show and Swap meet & Autographed Parts Sale.

We arrived early in the morning and watched as the field behind the museum filled in with awesome cars... Shinny and polished and rusted and creative.

Pinstripers also were there adding to the festivities and showcasing their talents. After stopping by each pinstrippers tent I have come to the conclusion that they are the friendliest artist I have met! All very patient and helpful with all your questions and each has a unique reason for loving the profession.

As, we moved toward the museum we saw Big Daddy's Garage. And there he was talking to us all as if we were family. What a great down to earth Man! He has recently written a book and was signing autographs so we did purchase one can't wait to sit down and read it!

Muscle Car City in Punta Gorda Florida

Well, here we are still enjoying the Florida weather. Today, we drove down to Punta Gorda Florida to explore the Rick Treworgy's Muscle Car City Collection we have been hearing about.

We arrived at 8:30 am and started with breakfast in the 60's style diner. the Diner is open for breakfast and lunch Tuesday thru Sunday 8am to 4pm.

Then we wondered around the one of the largest automobile memorabilia store anywhere.

Now it was time to enter the museum part of the building. This building used to be a walmart. Now it is 99,000 sq ft of collector cars! Rick has collected mostly Chevy's. After 40 years of collecting he has turn his dream into a reality and stock piled well over 200 vintage cars 1950s to early 1970s muscle cars.

Gatornationals in Gainesville Florida 2011

The 42nd Annual Tire Kingdom NHRA Gatornationals is the subject of today's adventure. Located at the Gainesville Raceway in Gainesville Fl.

We left early this morning to get to the track about hour and half away. Once there we enjoyed the fun and excitement of watching Top Fuel, Funny Cars, Pro Stock, and Pro Stock Motorcycles qualify for the Gatornationals. ESPN was there filming the event as usual.The teams were in place working on the cars right in front of you. Varies vendors and race fans filled the area.

Old Town Kissimmee Florida Car Show

This event is held every Friday and Saturday. Each week a special car make or model is featured. This week they had a Nova Show and the Ford Edsel's. They filled the streets of the small town quaint little shops lined the streets also so they was plenty for all to do.

63 Pontiac Parisienne

And the adventure continues... Yesterday while at Old Town in Kissimmee Florida, we ran into someone showing off his 63 Pontiac Parisienne. For those of you who may not know about this car, it is the Canadian Nameplate to our Pontiac Bonneville. And it could only be powered by a GM drive train (283,327,409, with 2-4's only on the 409).

These cars were built in the Canadian GM Plant in Oshawa Ontario. They were the top model sold in Canadian Pontiac Showrooms. Owner,Bill Ash, drives his car from Ontario every year for the last 10 years to Florida and has been showing it at Old Town that long.

Well, today's adventure took us to Florida's RT 75. There we stop at a place called 75 Chrome shop. Even though they cater to the BIG Trucks (Semis), we still found it a fun place to check out. They will be having their 13th Annual truck Show April 8-9-10, 2011. We probably won't be here then but it looks like a great event to come and see. They said they are hoping for a larger turn out than last year but the gas prices across the nation could hurt. They had about 35 big rigs in the parking lot last year. this show is called Pride & Polish. If you are in the area stop by and take a look.

And just down the road is the Russell Stove Outlet and Distribution Center, stop there and statfy your sweet tooth!!

Zephyrhills 2011 Winter Autofest

Well, here we are in Florida an everywhere we go we keep running into Erie PA people. Yesterday we went to the 37th annual Winter Autofest in Zephyrhills Florida. this is a 210 acre Festival Park. A three day event that features a Giant and Antique Swap meet, a Collector Car Auto Auction, a Car Corral and Vintage Auto exhibition Racing.

As, we wind our way thru the isles of vendors, who do we run into but Mark Pontikowski and his wife, Joyce visiting their children in Clearwater, fellow cruisers from Erie, Pa. This has been happening to us at each event we have run into a fellow cruiser from Erie, it truly is a small world. Especially, when we are all trying to escape from winter in PA.

The Collector Car auction runs all day and they had an array of cars for sale. The Car Corral was at least 5 rows deep and all types of cars to attracted just about anyone.

While traveling around Florida we became aware of the Sumter Swap Meet in Bushnell Florida. This event is held every 1st Sunday of the month this particular show was the winter extravaganza. After walking thru acres of swap meet parts you name they had it! We finally came upon the car show it is nice to see new cars and meet the southern car enthusiasts. It was a great time. Lots of vendors and private sales, nice big car corral, alot of good information from other car collectors and builders. . On, Saturday, February 5th with the help of many, Cruise The Bay finished off the 2010 car cruise season with the 2nd Annual Snowflake Cruise In; a dinner and dance to benefit Make A Wish

In attendance were 115 people ,

who saw some beautiful cars and funny Bayfront antics via a slide show prepared by Annette Diemer from callingallrodders.com Promptly at 7pm, all were served a sumptuous dinner in the elegant ballroom of the beautiful Bel-Aire Clarion Hotel.

For that, thanks to Karen, Lisa, Carol and all the Bel Aire staff. The meal was finished off with delicious cake compliments of Arnone’s Bakery. A fine array of Chinese Auction items were up for grabs – Thank you to everyone who helped, donated items and/or took a chance on them. And a very special thank-you to Bev Kraus for organizing and displaying the items in such a nice way. New this year was a Silent Auction which featured several hand crafted wood items from Santa’s Helpers and 2 day sail tickets on the Flagship Niagara. The Silent Auction proofed to be a lot of fun for those who bid and those who watched the bidding escalate. After dinner the delightfully entertaining band, Good Question from Conneaut Ohio,

sponsored by The John Karnes Agency took to the stage and had many people dancing and enjoying the show all evening long. All in all it was a great night of food, fun, ‘cars’ and friends. And best of all a check for $1300 has been given to Make A Wish to help fulfill our child's wish.

With the temperature dipping to a balmy 9 degrees here in Eastern PA, we needed a break from the snow!

We would like to thank George and Mary Ann Nopia for the invitation to come to the American Legion in Wesleyville, PA to hear The Contels.

You may remember The Contels from their recording (a 45 record) "Hey You", recorded back in 1957. After talking with the band they played the original song for the crowd. Along with many other familiar Doo Woop sounds. (And a special Happy Birthday to Me!)Thanks guys!

Wondering what to do these cold winter nights? "The Contels" are reappearing in Erie. Over the past months Mary Ann & George Napio from the Band "The Contels" have been keeping me abreast of the new changes to the Band.

The group has played at many events in Ohio and would like to get back into the Erie area and play here. Being from Erie orignally. Well, the have announced their first appreance for Jan 22, 2011 from 8-12 at the American Legion in WESLEYVILLE, PA.

Over the past few months they have added a keyboard and guitar player to the mix and have reform the band with members from the Black Diamond Band. They have 6 members in the new format. And they have been practing twice a week and are finally ready to WOW you with the new harmony and voices. Being A Doo Wop Band you know the importance of a great sounding group to bring back those memories from your favorite 45's.

So, don't sit inside another snowy night wishing for the days of summer, come down and here your favorite car tunes with "The Contels" in Northeast on Jan 22,2011.

Hi Cruisers, it's official we beat last years donations for Make-A-Wish. Thanks to the 50/50 participants at Monday Night Cruise the Bay in Erie. This year your donation was $1700.00, that is $600.00 more than 2009! Great Job!

This year Make-A-Wish has chosen ,Tenley, a 3 year old from Erie who has been treated for the last two years for severe burns. She finds comfort after treatments with her books and movies of Disney's Princesses. Her favorite is Cinderella. When ask about her one wish, she ask to meet Cinderella. Blue Suede Cruise 2011

For those of you who have been to the Blue Suede Cruise in Norwalk Ohio in the past.
For the last few years Good Guys has taken over the event. And while there were good and bad changes it still was a great event to attend.

In 2011, they have gone back to the original format and the event has been taken back over by Summit Motorsports park. The article appeared in Cruisin Times and has announced the news. They will try to recapture many of the elements the hot rod community enjoyed most about the original Blue Suede Cruise, i.e. fun runs, saturday night music, neon parade, flame throwing and fireworks.

If you have miss these things "THEY ARE BACK!" Mark your calendars June 22-24,2011 and plan to join in the fun at the Summit Motorsport Park in Norwalk Ohio. You won't be disappointed.

Applefest Franklin Pa 2010

Hello cruisers the season is winding down and despite all the wet weather the car shows are still going on! This morning we rode down to Franklin Pa for the Annual Applefest Show. This show usually pulls in hundreds of cars. Due to the pouring rain only a few ventured out today but in spite of the weather there were enough cars there for you to see.

They spent most of the day drying off the cars between rain drops but the cruisers were determined to give us a show. The parks were again filled with delicious foods and apple delights. A wonderful array of craft vendors were also on hand.

This year my friends, Beth & Maura, and myself stopped to talk with Tina Henderson.
Her booth was Airbrush By Tina, being car related we had a good time talking with her about tips for applying airbrushing to everything from Clothing to Cars! She showed us some recent projects and pictures of her own van. Very nice job!

We continued on where we found the rain was coming down harder so it was time to find the guys and head back to the car. All in all it was a great day and we enjoyed the Applefest Show again this year. Make sure you make a trip down next year you won't be disappointed.

As the season starts to end it is time to be thinking about where to put your special car away for the season. Many of us just don't have the room to store them at home. We need a safe dry place to put them away.

Last Night I had the pleasure of meeting the Owner & Operators of Supreme Storage & Warehouse located at 8251 Hamot Road in Erie, PA. This new facility is one of the largest indoor drive thru climate controlled storage units in town.

Darren Nesselhauf gave me a tour of the facility, and I must say I was pleasingly impressed. Being a car owner himself, he owns a 1962 Thunderbird. Darren knows the importance of have a dry safe place to store your vehicle.

They have 24 hour video surveillance, an on site manager, gated supervised entrance, seasonal and monthly rates available. Many of our local car enthusiasts already have their cars stored there. They have individual locked storage units and multi car gated areas. They have enough room to store one of your cars or twenty.

Conveniently located off Oliver Road near the Erie County Technical School. All Paved roads to the storage facility you will have no worries about driving thru mud and dirt to get your cars in.

Thompson Raceway Park Gasser Reunion

Well we took a ride up to Thompson's Raceway park in Thompson Ohio on Saturday.
Even though the weather was a little chilly it was a great day to go to the Drag Races.

We got there around 2 pm and the fun runs had started. After walking around and seeing all the Drag Cars up close we headed to the walk way to watch them line up and stage and then... Race down the track at awesome speeds.

We got to talk to one on the racers. Martin Smith, owner and driver of Space Kadett. Martin took the time to talk with Micki and I about putting together his drag car and even told a little about his awesome paint job which was done at home by him! Then he had the graphics added by pinstripper J Bird! Great guy and he will give you quite a show watching him take it down the strip!,

The big show was to start at 5pm. As the afternoon went on the big black billowing clouds started rolling in. They managed to get a few runs in and then the Chevy Rebellion Wheelie stander preformed!

Next up with his fierce temper Bob Motz's Jet Fuel Semi rolled onto the track. The thumping and pounding started the the fires are lit... the back wall of the drag track explodes in fire... and the he let loose and rolled down the track at an unbelievable time of 6 sec and 201 miles per hour!!! Now that was COOL!!!!

And then the rains came and the show was cancelled until Sunday. Unfortunately we could not go back up today but we will be making plans to attend again soon.

Matt Lamborn, Pinstriper

Today I had the pleasure of meeting and following around Matt LamborA Pinstriper at the Glenn christian Church Ox Roast Car Show in Trumball county Fairgrounds Cortland, Ohio.

After talking with Matt only a few minutes, he found out I was interested in the pin striping profession. with this information, he began to show me little tricks of the trade and council me on how to enjoy this type of work. He has been painting signs and pin stripping for 22 years.

He travels around the show with his equipment cart and stops to do on the spot pin striping through out the show. Where ever you see his orange and white checked flag flying you will find him at work turning our cars into wonderful works of art. Just stop by to schedule a time for your car to get done next.

All the while he was working he took the time to explain things to me and answer any silly questions I may have had about pin striping. All without ever missing a beat. A true professional.

I enjoyed my time spent with Matt and want to Thank him for taking the time to encourage me into the the art of pin striping. I am very glad I met you. You are truly a person who cares about his fellow man.

Glenn Christian Church Ox Roast Car Show 2010

FREE...FREE...FREE...is all I can say about this great show held for the last 15 years at the Trumball County Fair Grounds in Cortland Ohio. This is the first time we have had a chance to get there, and we were not disappointed.

They had about 1000 car at the show. And many more spectators. This group puts on the show and provides the food, the entertainment, the trophies, amusement rides, camping and hook up FREE. A very organized show. I don't know how they do it. All they ask is that you purchase an event shirt. They run from $10-30 for a shirt and the proceeds fund the event.

Even with the cooler fall weather pledging the event this year it was packed and all seem to enjoy themselves. If you have not had a chance to go to this event put it on your list of must do's! We will be back! Thanks guys for a job well done!

The Wall, American Veterans Traveling Tribute

Tonight was the last night that the traveling memorial wall was in Erie. Rex and I took the time to go to the First Assembly of God church parking lot on Oliver Road to see this display. Words can NOT explain the feeling of standing before that wall. We go about our busy lives and sometimes forget how lucky we are to live in a country that is protected by these great men and women. The ones that chose to give their life to keep us free and those that were called to duty and chose to defend our country and people. We all seem to have an opinion on how things should be run but these people did more than just talk about it. They gave the ultimate sacrifice and we need to never forget!

We need to THANK those people who gave their lives, We need to THANK those families who have lost a loved ones for the good of our country. And we need to THANK those men and women who put them selves in harms way everyday for US! No matter was race what religion what working class these people come from they come together for a cause and that is for you and I to live in a country where we can voice our opinion, complain about our government, and get an education if we want one, work where we want, simple put make choices and live safely all the things we take for granted! These men and women believe it is your right to these things and fight to keep those things and many more.
Stop and pause right now and remember why we have these rights and how many lives over the years all through history have been lost to ensure that our sons and daughters get those same rights and hopefully a better live because of the sacrifices of our service men and women! God Bless America! We are Proud to be Americans!

Woodward Dream Cruise 2010

Saturday, August 21, 2010 we woke up 5:30am to meet friends and headed up to Detroit Michigan!... Why?...

Because the worlds largest one day car event is going on there! Woodward Ave Dream Cruise 2010. With 40,000 cars and over one million people attended it is an event you don't want to miss. If you have ever gone before you know what I mean. Despite the weather the streets are filled with muscle cars, streetrods, hot rods, special interest cars, any kind and anything you can think of. This event runs the whole length of Woodward Ave. from Ferndale, Michigan to Pontiac, Michigan. Each town has a special part in t his event. The towns participating are Berkley, Ferndale, Birmingham, Huntington, Royal Oak, Bloomfield and Pontiac.

Dodge, Chevy, Ford and GM as well as other groups have there own special spot along the route. Also complete with Vendors, Car Clubs, Food, Event merchandise. There are Auto Techs, Promotions of next years cars and sneak peaks of what's to come in the auto world. Contests and prizes fun for all.

Speciality cars attend and partiapate in the crusin. We saw the Car from the Monkees, A Fred Flinstone Car, Deloran, Back to Future Car, Batman Mobile just to name a few.

In Ferndale on Nine Mile Street you have Mustang Alley where all the pony cars parked. Bands fill the air with music. Entertainment is plentiful.

We traveled the entire Woodward route and ended up in Pontiac Michigan, When we were there six years ago it was a very depressed looking area this year it looked like new life had been breathed into it. They have done quite a bit to bring this town back to life we saw remarkable change in the attitude and look of the town. Good Job guys, Keep up the good work. We saw parking lots filled with car enthusiasts and great classics. Pontiac was one of our favorite spots.

There we met Paul, Vince and Joe from Cruis'news. Talk about hospitality they were the best at welcoming us to the Dream Cruise! We stayed and talked to them for quite a while and they made sure we had all the information and souvenirs we needed to remember our trip to Michigan! Great Job Guys we enjoyed your time with us. We will be back!

Now we head back down Woodward on the other side of the boulevard and back out in the cruise line. People are lined up in lawn chairs all along the route enjoying the endless parade of great looking cars the the sounds and smells of the car enthusiast world! What a great event!

Back in Ferndale it is now time to find some dinner. When we were there in 2006 we went to a restaurant called, "Howe's Bayou" and had some of the best Cajun cooking we have ever had. So, lets try it again and sure enough it was every bit as good as before and we were glad we came back! The staff is super and the owner came out and talk with us right at the table. Great service and wonderful cuisine in Ferndale Michigan.

Now night is falling and the cars are still crusin until 9:00 pm when the street shuts down and the police will help empty the street and end the event for another year. This process is done rather quickly and without much traffic problems it is amazing to see them do this. The police departments in these towns are to be commended, there are very few problems with the amount of people the descend on Woodward Ave for this event! Great Job!

In closing I want to give everyone who makes this event run so smoothly a big Thank You for your all your efforts it shows that you take time to plan and organize because it is one of the best run shows I have been to. With the amount of people and cars that attend the Woodward Dream Cruise Event you do a great job!

Waterford Tool & Machine Cruise the Bay!

Well another record night at the cruise the bay event, held every Monday night at the Bayfront Park N Ride, in Erie PA..

We can't complain about this summer we have had great summer nights and lots of participation all over the tri state area at all the areas cruise in amd shows.
One of the most popular shows held in Erie, is the Monday night cruise in. Each night a new theme is presented and an area sponsor is there to participate in the show. Tonight the sponsor were Jim & Janet Shillings from Waterford Tool & Machine.

It was "Car Show Night", any or all that wanted to join in the fun had the opportunity to enter their car in the show, for the zany prizes, the choices were made by the fellow cruisers.

Winners, were Fran Yost, with her 1969 Mach One Merlot...Bob Sheimer with his Z28 Camero...Ken Johnson with his 1931 Red Ford Coupe, it was his first time at our show he came in from Geneva, Ohio...Joe Bruce with his 1964 Chevelle.

It was also Krispy Kreme night and they came with FREE samples of the best glazed donuts in the land! And a Spin to Win Wheel for more delicious goodies!

Don't let the summer evenings on the Bay front pass you by you won't be dissappointed. Jump in the car and come on down and Cruise the Bay with us!

Local Cruisers get invited to a Photo Shoot for Tuning World of Germany

Calling All Rodders,

Some lucky local cruisers had a once in a lifetime invitation to be a part of a national promotional photo shoot.

The Promoters of Tuning World an annual car show held in May in Germany. This attraction brings in over 1000 cars and over 100,000 spectators to this event. Along with the cars they also have a beauty contest to pick the next Miss Tuning to be used in all the promotional material for the event.

This year Kristin Zippel of Mering, Germany was the winner and along with the exclusive photo shoot in North America she won a New Nissan Micra.

One of the stops in North America is the wonderful Great Lakes. Erie was contacted and ask to help find cars for the photo shoot of local car enthusiast. Chris, from the Visit Erie office contacted us to help.

The German Promotional Group came into Erie about a month ago to meet with the local cruisers. It just happen to be a Friday Night and The Last Buggin State Street Event ! They then enjoyed a great evening in Downtown Erie and there they found a few more cars that they were interested in.

Today's event involved 3 local cruisers.

Our day started out at Beach #9 on Erie's beautiful Presque. Steve & Cheryl Nesselhauf and Son Cubby from Edinboro PA along with friend Kyle Sheehand who was lucky enough to tag along today! They brought out their 1955 Ford F-100 Truck to be apart of the photo shoot.

After some tense moments in the sinking sand Steve did a great job at getting his truck up on the beach. The the beautiful Miss Tuning, Kristin Zippel brought the pictures to life.

Then it was off to the next location. Erie's own Sara's Dinor at the entrance to Presque. The Dinor setting was perfect for the old skool HotRod shots. Rex & Annette Diemer from Waterford PA brought out their 1933 Plymouth Coupe to Sara's Dinor and there with the addition of some props and the wonderful backdrop of the Dinor, Miss Tuning, Kristin Zippel became the best mechanic in the area! You guys could only wish that your mechanic looked like her! We also enjoyed a wonderful lunch at Sara's.

Next the scene changes with the arrival of Paul & Marcia Jensen from Greene Township, in their 1966 Red Corvette Convertable. Our wonderful model, Kristin Zippel transformed into a full service Gas Station Attendant! What a fun day!

Thank you for reaching out and calling me for “our side” of the Buggin State event. While some may disagree, we did try to secure sponsorships and have continually tried to assess ways to hold the event at a breakeven point. I can assure you that our organization does not make money at any event we organize, however we do have a policy that states that we need to at a minimum have our costs covered prior to scheduling an event.

I have attached a letter that was sent to the Erie Times News editor and subsequently printed. This gives some of the basic information regarding our decision making process and the need for us to juggle the needs of all of our members (members are the property owners and businesses between Holland and Sassafras Streets and from 14th Street to the Bay). I hope this will be the beginning of an open dialog between those car enthusiasts and our organization.

FACTS ABOUT THE BUGGIN STATE STREET RUMORS!

Dear Cruisers and Car Enthusiasts,

Lately it seems at every event we attend someone comes up to me and wants to know, “ what is up with the Buggin State Street Event? “ Countless rumors have been flying around about the future of these events. And the interest to keep this event going is strong. Because of this I decided to go the source and try to get answers.

This letter is to you the cruisers and supporters of the Calling All Rodders website, it is only intended to be an informational letter for you. NOT the opinion or decisions of Annette Diemer, or Calling All Rodders. We only wanted to get some of the facts out to you and open a line of communication between you and the Buggin State Street organizers.

This week, I spoke to Brenda Sandberg, CEO of the Erie Downtown Partnership. For those of you who do not know, The Erie Downtown Partnership is an organization that is made up of property owners and business owners from Holland Street to Sassafras Street and 14th Street to the Bay in the downtown area.
At this point, I have added the letter sent to the Erie Times News by Brenda explaining their policies, earlier in the year, for you to read…

During the summer, the Erie Downtown Partnership organizes many weekly downtown events including Block Parties, Bike Nights and the Classic Car Buggin’ State. This is the Partnership’s most public face.

We are always evaluating what services we provide and how effectively they are provided. As a membership based organization, we must first look to see if we are satisfying the needs of our members. The latest event evaluation really led the Board of Directors to reflect not on the implementation of the event, but the reason behind having them. We asked ourselves “How do these events benefit our membership”? The answer is complicated, for some members the event brings an influx of people and spending to their door and for others it neither helps nor does it hurt them. Finally, for some members, the event is seen as a detriment because the streets are closed and their customers or clients cannot easily access the products and services they offer. Those members often argue “would you want to locate your business on a street that closes 10+ times a year”?

We determined that these events are vital to bring people who may not otherwise come downtown to showcase our area as being clean, safe and fun. Secondly, we realized that it was important to bring them to the downtown on a night in which it was not typically busy. This second goal is much more difficult to accomplish. In creating our 2010 calendar we made every effort to schedule around events being held at Jerry Uht Park, the Warner Theater, the Erie Playhouse, Gannon University, and Gallery Night just to name a few. Add to that the thought that most people will go out for the evening on a Friday or Saturday and the dates become more limited.
It is wonderful that downtown has so much to offer! This is exactly the activity the Erie Downtown Partnership is trying to reinforce on a daily basis. However, in an attempt to balance the goals of an event and the needs of all of our members, the Summer of 2010 event season will have a few changes. We have made a slight reduction in the number of events we will be holding and we have moved our Bike Nights to Thursday nights.

We are looking forward to a busy summer season which begins with a Bike Night on Thursday May 20th. Thursday night is the night to come downtown with events each and every Thursday from June 17th to September 9th . We hope you stop in for a visit, maybe you will find a store or restaurant that will become your new favorite!

Some points of this letter addressed by Brenda were :

1. The reduction in Buggin State Street Events.

Answer : Due to cost and no sponsorship. Also, the problem of trying to work around other scheduled events in the downtown area. Such as events held at the Jerry Uht Park, Warner Theater, Erie, Playhouse and Gannon University.

2. The Cost of sponsorship for the Buggin State Street Events and the response for sponsors.
Many local businesses were approached for sponsorship along with local car dealerships, there was not enough response to fund the event. The changing of the event night also hindered the sponsorship as they did not want to sponsor it on any night but Friday.
Answer: This event needs to have a sponsorship of $3000.00 to go on. A sponsor will be added to all advertising material for the event.

One solution that was requested by the cruisers, was to charge each car a minimal fee for entrance.
Answer: The Problem with this is there is no one point of access for the event and would be impossible to get to every participant in the show.

3.Why they want to move the event from Friday night (a rumor that has been flying around).

Answer: The purpose of these downtown events is to bring business to the area that would not normally be there. The partnership owners feel that the Friday night is normally busy so they would like this event held on another less busy night to draw in business for their slower nights. As this is the purpose of the Downtown Partnership, to help draw business to the downtown area.

In response to this, I can say that the cruisers in the area have expressed to me this, “By moving it to a week night you will lose a lot of the out of down guests that come to the city JUST for the Buggin State Street Event. Many families tell me that they plan their vacations and family reunions or get togethers around this event because it is on a weekend. We get people coming to see our cars or show off theirs from as far away as Ohio, New York Pittsburgh, Sharon, or West Virginia. Even many of our local cruisers come in from more than 30 miles away they do not want to try and drive back on a weeknight and have to go to work the next morning. This is big event for many people who have moved out of the area and love coming BACK to Erie to reminisce about the days of Buggin State Street. Talk to anyone from the area and they have a story about Buggin State Street in their younger days! This is a great event that brings tourist into the area sometimes for the entire weekend as well as bringing business to the downtown area.”

Syracuse Nationals NY 2010

Calling All Rodders,

We have just returned from the 11th Annual Syracuse Nationals held in Syracuse NY. This is the largest car happening on the Right Coast. Street Rods, Customs, Classics, Antiques & Trucks thru 1980. It is a three day event held at the Empire Expo Center on the New York State Fairgrounds. Produced by the RightCoast Association, Cool Cars and Hot Happenings.

Next year it will be held July 15-16-17 2011, same place make plans to get there you won't be disappointed.

The cars are beautiful and the custom work is amazing. the Rat Rods building was my favorite part of the show it is amazing to see the creativity of the custom builders!

They held a charity auction, the money was raise from the sale of pin stripped panels done by some of the most talented pin strippers in the country.

Vendors, galore! Tech seminars, Cars, Cars, and more cars! Over 7000 cars attended Everything from Muscle Cars, Street Rods, Hot Rods, Lead Sleds, Famous Custom Builders, Airbrushing and Pin stripping, Customs Paint all around.

They had shuttles for the women, to the local shopping malls, and Women's World on the grounds. Plenty of good food and Music, Bands, Burnouts and Fireworks. Three fun filled days of things to do and see!

We had so much fun that we are planning to go again next year...you should too, if you are interested in cars at all don't miss it!

It was another beautiful summer night to enjoy the local events. Tonight we drove our 33 Plymouth Coupe to Meadville. At the Applebee's Resturaunt at 322 & 79 Hosted by Classic Irons Street Machine Association. A car show highlighting the Paint & Graphic designs of local car owners.

What a beautiful group of cars to see. We have been trying to get down to Meadville for some time to check out the local Applebee's events. We are glad we finally got there. We were greeted by friendly people and great cars. DJ Dean was there playing all the old classic car music and and keeping us entertained. He did a wonderful job. The Classic Iron Street Machine Association had T-Shirts for sale and 50-50's were being sold.

The shows run every other Tuesday Nights from 6-9pm. Their schedule is posted on www.callingallrodders.com, website, along with many other events that this group hosts in the Meadville area

We will be going back to Meadville to see what they have to show us. It was nice to go to a new area and see all they have to display also.

Take a chance and drive out of the area see what other communities have to offer. We did and enjoyed our evening out very much. Great Job Guys!

Red, White & Blue Night Cruise the Bay

Well it was a gorgeous HOT night down at the Monday Night Cruise the Bay event. Car enthusiasts from all over came down to enjoy the wonderful sunsets and Lake Erie views at the Bayfront Park n Ride.

Tonight's theme was Red, White, & Blue. Many car owners decorated the cars with Patriotic Colors and joined in the festivities. Our local TV station WJET-24 and Rachel Vendetti were present and broadcasting live from the show.

Each Monday Night we fill the Park n Ride Facility on the Bayfront Highway with awesome cars and great people, fun food and games and prises. make sure you come down and check us out. we even have a 50-50 each night that benefits the Make-A-Wish foundation. Last year our donation from the 50-50 was $2400.00

Buggin State Street... Only one in 2010

Well, another beautiful Buggin State Street Event went off on Friday and many people attended the event. The street were filled as usaul with cars and spectators!

The Business this must bring downtown is unbelievable. That is why we ALL find it hard to believe that Erie may no longer be having this event. The rumor is that they can not find enough sponsors to keep it running.

It certainly isn't due to lack of particapation and enthusisum for the event. Erie's downtown has Bike Nights, Block Parties, Erie Days, Bar Stool Open's and many other events that continue, but it seems only the Buggin State Street Event is in jepordy of being stopped due to not enough money???? Humm We wonder why??? We've had numorous Buggin State Street Events is the past few years this year we get ONE!

We thought, we were promoting come to Erie see what we have to offer to our tourist and then when we have an event that brings people in from all over the tri state area they stop it!! What UP?

Public opinion is that these events continue, maybe our city organizors should reconsider. If you think you know of a sponsor or a solution to this problem.

When the weather cooperates the weekends are full of things to do in our area. It seems that just about every day of the week you can find something to do that involves the cars.

Vietnam Veterans of America Annual Cruise In

Another beautiful day in Erie PA. Even though there was a chance of rain none fell on the Picnic and Cruise In at the Soldiers and Sailors Home.

First of all a GREAT BIG THANK YOU to the men and women who protect our country through their dedication and service in the armed services.

Great food was provided and many area cruisers showed up for this years event. The residents of the Soldiers and Sailors home really enjoy this show and the shows proceeds go to the home.

They have a Most Original, and Best of Show trophies for the event. And they are picked by all the show participants. The Oldies Music was playing in the air, and the stories were being told by all as the walked down memory lane remember the cars of the past as well as the cars of the present filled the park.

Mark your calendars for next years event and give a little time and memories back to the men and women who fought hard for our country, so that we can live free. Don't forget the people who help keep this country safe.

It has started! The Cruise the Bay 2010 Season started tonight. The beautiful weather and local car enthusiast's made the opening event a success. The Bayfront Park n Ride was filled to capacity and it was apparent tonight on the bayfront we all are ready to start our local car cruisin.

Jack & Judy Miller and their special group have done a excellent job at getting us another fun filled season rolling. DJ Bill Mason is back playing our favorite tunes and announcing. The Weenie Wagon is there as well providing great meals. Tonight's Sponsor was Contemporary Motorcars LTD.

Remember this event happens every Monday night through out the summer from 6-9, (except for Memorial Day and Labor Day). So make plans to be there , you won't be disappointed.

Weekend of Flames!

What a blast we had this weekend. Ohio Technical College in Cleveland Ohio, had a weekend airbrushing course in flames!

After seeing them at the Cleveland Auto-Rama show demonstrating Airbrush Techniques and Pin striping we got the bug to try our hand at also.

The Seminar was taught by, Pat"The Airbrush Guy" Downey, Thomas"Big Daddy" Banks, and Cliff"BS" Vogan. Three of the most talented guys around.

Never having held an airbrush in my hand before we headed off to Cleveland. The amount of information and hands on instruction was unreal! It was a small class with plenty of indiviual instruction and hands on learning! Who would have imagined that in one weekend we would leave there with as much knowledge in creating flames and applying airbrush special effects as we did.

Thank you guys for one of the best classes we have had the pleasure in taking.

Last night I received and email about the upcoming 2010 Buggin State Street Events.
To read a copy of this email log onto www.callingallrodders.com It seems unfortunately that they are having trouble finding sponsorship for this event. Because of this there will only be one show scheduled for this summer. This is a great blow for the car community in our area. If you have ever gone downtown to see or participate in this event you realize what a big event this is.

The streets are lined on both sides and down the middle with every kind of car imaginable. There is definitely something for everyone. Car enthusiast's come from all over the tri-state area and beyond to be a part of this event. Family picnics and reunions are planed around these weekends. It is great family event with something for everyone to see.

Cleveland IX Center Federated Auto Parts Auto-Rama Show

Calling All Rodders,

This was great show to start off the season with!

On Saturday we drove up to the Cleveland IX Center to attend the Auto-Rama Show. The doors opened a t 10:00am and we spent the entire day there. On the display floor waiting for us were plenty of cars to see, vendors to shop with, tips and demos for auto related businesses, TV personalities, and famous car restorations, and fabricators. Cars, Trucks, Motorcycles, Rat Rods, Movie Cars, you name there seem to be a representative for all. Vendors from Car related Businesses, and an Indoor Swap Meet.

The Ohio Technical College set up a Pin striping and Airbrushing Demo. We got caught up at the booth fro quite a while. What a nice job they did in letting young and old try their hand at airbrushing and pin striping. They sure make it look easy but I can tell you they have some very talented people in that group.

We moved on from the car collection the the Ohio Auction Company Kiko had on display for auction, to the display of local car owners that brought the cars in for the indoor car show. There was car very everyone there no matter what kind of car you liked you had a representative of each. With plenty to see.

If you were looking for a certain part, or had a tech questions they also had a large array of vendors and experts to talk to and shop with.

The large swap meet at the back of the center had plenty to offer also. I can't say enough how great this show is if you missed make sure you mark your calendar for next year I don't think you will be disappointed.

2010 Federated Auto Parts Cleveland Auto Rama Show

The Cleveland Auto-Rama Show is scheduled for March 19-21. We went up last year and really enjoyed this show. Make plans to go this year, it is well worth the ride.

Make-A-Wish benefits from the 1st Annual Snowflake Cruise In

On, Friday, February 5th, Cruise The Bay kicked off the 2010 car cruise season with the first ever Snowflake Cruise In, a dinner and dance to benefit Make A Wish. In attendance were 123 people - some semi-pro or were they professional dancers!! - and some people who much to their dismay had to leave their "show cars" in storage... But no matter who you were we all got to view some of those gorgeous "show cars" via a slide show prepared for us by our own Annette Diemer from callingallrodders.com.
We were served a sumptuous dinner in the elegant ballroom of the beautiful Bel-Aire Clarion Hotel. For that we thank Hayley, Carol and all the Bel Aire staff.
A wonderful selection of Chinese Auction items were up for grabs. Thanks to everyone who helped, donated items and/or took a chance on them. And a very special thank you to Bev Kraus and Vicky Taylor for organizing and displaying the items in such a nice way.
After dinner the delightfully entertaining band, Good Question from Conneaut Ohio took to the stage and had many people up and dancing all evening long. And even if you were not a dancer you could enjoy the music and some of the best dancing couples you have ever seen.
All in all it was a great night of food, fun and friends - new and old. And on top of all of that a check for $600 will be given to Make A Wish this week to help make a local child's wish come true.

Thank you to everyone and we look forward to seeing you all on Monday, May 24th for our first cruise in with cars!!

Take a look at the website, I have given it a new look. My goal in 2010 is to make the website easier to get around and easier to read. I hope to be able to get breaking news out to you the cruiser faster. On the home page you will find a list of news pertaining to the car events. Robert Gottschling will be missed by many.

It is with a heavy heart that I inform fellow car enthusiast's and friends of Robert Gottschling, that he has passed away on Christmas Day 2009. As many of you know Bob had been fighting a hard battle the last year. He will be missed by many. Especially by his loving wife, Bobbi, and his family. Please remember them in your thoughts and prayers in the coming days.

Husband, Father, Grandfather, Friend Robert J. Gottschling, 66, of Greene Township, died Friday December 25, 2009 at his residence following a lengthy illness. A resident of Erie all of his life he was born on June 17, 1943 a son of the late William J. and Mary Jarmolowicz Gottschling. Bob was a 1962 graduate of Tech Memorial High School and worked at Acurate Finishing after graduation. He was part owner of Mafix until 1984 when he opened Bob's Tooling, which he ran until he retired in 1998. In the past he enjoyed working on and driving his street rod. After retiring he spent several winters in Las Vegas and Florida. Survivors include his wife of 32 years Roberta "Bobbi" Vient Gottschling; three sons, Robert Gottschling and his wife Tammy of Greene Township, David Gottschling of Erie, and James Gottschling and his significant other, Lisa Harmon of Greene Township; one daughter, Laurie Shelhamer of Erie; one sister, Mary Ann Bottoni of Erie; one brother, William Gottschling and his wife Marge of Phillipsville; six grandchildren, David, Leah, Adam, Andrew, Matthew, and Allison Gottschling; and one daughter in law, Lisa Gottschling of Greene Township. He is also survived by a niece and several nephews. Friends may call at the Russell C. Schmidt & Son Funeral Home Inc., 5000 Wattsburg Road (corner of East Gore and Pine Ave.) on Monday and Tuesday from 2 to 5 p.m. and 7 to 9 p.m. and are invited to services there on Wednesday morning at 11:00 a.m. Burial will be in Wintergreen Gorge Cemetery. Memorial contributions may be made to the Leukemia and Lymphoma Society, 2635 W. 26th St., Erie, 16506 or Hospice of Metropolitan Erie, 202 E. 10th St., Erie, 16503.

Well, they have started their journey and they have stopped in Erie Pa, at the Quaker Steak & Lube on Peach Street.

Thank you to the Flathead Club of Erie PA, for hosting the evening. This club along with some local car owners, welcomed the pair as they start their journey across the country.

Rolling Bones, one of the nations best-known hot rod shops, is teaming up with Motorbooks and rodders across the country on an adventure to SEMA!Rolling Bones were featured in Peter Harholdt and Ken Gross’ book Art of the Hot Rod (which recently won a GOLD at the International Automotive Media Awards and author Ken Gross won the Lifetime Achievement Award) and Peter Vincent’s Hot Rod Garages. They will be meeting with hot rodders and selling and signing these best-selling titles all the way across the country!Ken Schmidt and Keith Cornell (aka Rolling Bones) will drive their 1932 Ford Three Window Coupe from their shop in Ballston Spa, New York to Las Vegas (leaving Monday the 26th and arriving in Las Vegas Sunday, November 1). Their final destination would be the Motorbooks booth (#22393) at SEMA!

A Special Thank You from Jack & Judy!

The 2009 Cruise the Bay season has come to an end. The thank you notes are being mailed to our sponsors, our Make A Wish donation is in the mail and of course thoughts and plans are starting up for 2010. But first we want to give a little 2009 summary report.

Cruise the Bay 2009 saw numerous changes - the biggest being that Cruise the Bay became a community car event with no club affiliation. This change opened the door to bringing lots of volunteers to help this event to continue to grow. THANK YOU ONE AND ALL!!! - We saw some new parking changes smoothly go into effect – again thanks to all who helped implement them and to all who went with the flow and followed them.

And of course we saw the Calling All Rodders website become our official voice – helping everyone see and hear about all the fun they had experienced on Monday night and drawing in more helpers, cruisers and spectators.

The summer saw the following statistics go down in the books. We had 18 cruises, saw nearly 5000 cars visit us over the summer that is an average of 275 cars per night. Our 50/50 has enabled us to send an $1100 donation to the Erie Area Make A Wish Foundation. We were blessed with 11 perfect evenings -gorgeous Erie weather with some beautiful sunsets, 2 actual rain mode evenings & if you are one of the diehard cruisers you know what that means, 4 nights that saw rain in and around the area, but even those nights averaged 100 cars, and 1 night where everyone but me (Judy Miller) said it was just too darn hot!!

Again thank you to everyone who cruised in, sold and bought 50/50 tickets, handed out door prize tickets, gave out our sometimes silly cruiser gifts, helped with and or participated in the various contests, cleaned up, set up, promoted – you get the idea. THANK YOU!!! one and all for helping to make the 2009 Cruise the Bay season a fun and enjoyable time for all of us.

Rolling Bones Hot Rod set to come to Erie PA!

It's official they will be stopping in Erie At the Quaker Steak & Lube on Peach St in Erie,Pa, on their way to the SEMA show in Las Vegas! Come on down and meet the builders of the Rolling Bones Hot Rod.

For all of you car builders out there, we have some exciting news coming. Rolling Bones a.k.a. Keith Cornell & Ken Schmidt are making their way toward Erie, PA.

These two Hot Rod builders were recently featured in two new Hot Rods books published by Motorbooks/MBI Publishing.

They will driving through our area from New York to their final destination the Motorbooks booth at The SEMA show in Las Vegas. Along the way they are stopping in the towns they pass through for a book promotion and to show off the Rolling Bones Hot Rod.

Plans are in the works to have them stop in Erie. They hope to come to town the end of October dates are being finalize now. They are seeking car clubs/organizations to help them out by gathering your members together to meet and greet them as they come through our town.

I truly hope we can show them our support by gather at the site when they come into town. I will post updated information on this event on the website www.callingallrodders.com and in this Blog.

The Cruise the Bay 2009 season has come to an end.

Jack & Judy have done an excellent job at planning and getting it all organized for our pleasure. A giant Thank you goes out to them from all of us who enjoy this event.

Thank you also to all of you …The Cruisers… who stepped up to the plate and volunteer you time to making this year’s event a success I personally know that Jack & Judy could not have done it without you.

And we can’t forget all the gracious Business Sponsors who gave their time and money each week to bring to the community a place to meet and have fun at a FREE family event in the Erie Area.

Thank you goes out to the Port Authority of Erie, for being patient with us and supporting us in getting the parking and burn outs under control. And thank you to all of you who complied with the new rules to save this event. You showed us how important it was to you, to be able to keep and enjoy this event.

For our listen pleasure and to make sure you knew what was coming up next we have to Thank Bill Mason our DJ for coming each week rain or shine and supplying us with music and announcement.

And where there are Cruisers there are hungry people! Step up to The Weenie Wagon for each week they supplied us with delicious specials at affordable rates. Thanks for being our very own Diner! You did a Great Job !

Now for you the Cruisers who without you we would not have been as successful as we were. Each week Rain or Shine you loaded up your family and came down to the Bayfront. You worked patiently with us thru the parking, the burn outs, and the planned entertainment for that evenings event. We had a lot of fun this summer and saw a lot of Erie’s finest cars and those from the surrounding areas as well.

The community also did a great job in supporting this event. We were filled to capacity most nights., in spite of the weather which always seem to clear up just before the start of the event. But even on those cold rainy nights we had dedicated people to fill the park.

Ron and I took turns supplying you with pictures from that nights fun filled event. They were posted for you to enjoy on the website, www.callingallrodders.com. Thank you Ron for helping me keep up with photos.

We had famous entertainers…Elvis, Marilyn Monroe, Skaters, Hula hoopers, gum chewers, costume wearer, racers, your participation in the fun event planned for each evening provided the entertainment and success of each night.
All in all it was a great summer! And we can’t wait to see what is in store for the 2010 season!

On a personal note I want to thank Jack & Judy for providing me the opportunity to be the web voice for this event. Last Tops Cruise In for the season

Calling All Rodders,

The season is quickly winding down although we still have into October to go. The car cruisin season will soon be over. Everyone is turning out for the last few shows in the area. Tops had the last show for their season tonight and they had a nice turn out.

The Parking lot quickly filled up shortly after 6:00pm. The air was cool but the fun continued and funds were raised for the Children Diabetic Foundation. The people in charge of this show do a great job. And I want to thank them for their hard work and dedication to the cause. They have not had the best weather this year for their cruise but they showed up each event and did the best they could under the conditions and we thank you for your dedication. Next year will only be better and we all look forward to your return in the 2010 Season.

Cruise The Bay Halloween comes early

It was a perfect night on the Bayfront... If you looked closely you would see strange creatures emerging from the corners of the Park n Ride...Could it be Halloween already? I know the summer has flown by but I could not believe my eyes as I saw... the Great Pumpkin appear... and then there were tiny witches flying around...the cars were transforming into characters...dogs and people alike were joining in the annual costume contest for the Halloween Night Cruise the Bay event!

We sure do have fun down on the Bayfront on Monday Nights in the summer. Please remember there will NOT be an event on Monday Sept 7 as it is labor Day, but join us again Sept 14 from 6-9 pm.

There are a few shows going on the Labor Day weekend so be sure to check the event schedule on the Calling all Rodders website.

Cruise the Bay Mardi Gras Style

Calling All Rodders,

Another packed lot at the Cruise the Bay event on the Bayfront. Tonight's theme was Mardi Gras and the were beads flying. The kids came up and got involved in the Limbo Contest.

Our Limbo winner was Cameron Osiecki, who happen to be visiting form North Carolina and came down to the bayfront with his family for the car show. This just goes to show how this event is fun for the whole family and great fun.

Bill Mason was our DJ providing our music and announcements. Jack and Judy were running around making sure everyone was happy and all the volunteers that help help each Monday Night you have no idea how much we appreciate each and every one of you.

The weenie wagon did another great job at providing plenty of food for our participants and spectators.

Erie and the surrounding areas and states! Have all made this event a great success.

Elvis Lives in Erie PA

Elvis Lives in Erie, PA! Tonight down at the weekly "Cruise the Bay" event we had the pleasure of seeing and hearing the king.

He arrived at 7:00 pm. There was a whole lot of Shakin Going On! A Hunka Hunka Burning Love was dancing and performing for the crowds.

Cars lined the park as we all gather round to hear our favorite tunes from the King!

Erie's own Jim Moore was there to make our 50's night complete. We always have a great time on Monday Nights at the Park n Ride in Erie PA on the Bayfront Highway.
Cars, Music, Food, and Entertainment is planned each week.

If you haven't made it down make sure you scheduled us in before summer slips away from us again.

Buggin State Street 2009

Calling All Rodders,

It's Summer ( I think) in Erie PA. That means its time to cruise the dock and Bug State Street. Anyone who grew up in this area knows that a great Friday or Saturday
Evening was jumping in the car and heading for the dock and cruise up and down state street was in order.

This tradition is again in full production as car owners from all over headed down to State Street in Erie for the first Buggin State of 2009.

I think the weather in the early part of the day out in the county may have cautioned a few people from coming down as the turn out was heavy but seemed to be a few cars shy of last years event.

But if you missed it there will be two more events, one in Aug and one in Sept. Check the events schedule on www.callingallrodders.com for more information.

The evening was filled will cars and food and music up and down state street. Every make and model, old and new, restored and in the process, a great family event.

And again it went off with of a hitch and the community enjoyed another Buggin State Street. A complete success!! Thanks to you all.

Hi Cruisers another great night on the Bayfront. Tonights fun included a Car Show.
Tonight fellow cruisers and Spectators chose three lucky winners.

John Ropelewski, with his 1965 Pontiac Convertible took 1st Place, Chuck Miller with his 1967 CD Chevy Truck, took 2nd Place, and Finally Bill Cunningham with his 1952 Pontiac took 3rd Place.

Our own DJ Bill Mason provided Car Related Trivia Contests thru out the evening along with great music. He Does a great job for us.

Again the Weenie Wagon was there for your supper needs, and the food was good as usual.

Tonight we had a visit from the head of the Bayfront Port Authority, Mr. Schroeckengost. He was there to ask us not to encourage or perform burn outs in or around the Bay Front area or on the Bay Front Highway if this rule is not followed the Monday Night Car Cruise will be stopped!

It seemed that this request was followed tonight and a Big Thank goes out to you all! Thank you for keeping this event alive.

The Edinboro Community cordially invites you to participate in Edinboro University of Pennsylvania’s 2009 Homecoming Parade, which will be held Saturday, October 3. This year’s Homecoming theme is “Disney Movies: Edinboro University Homecoming ~ The Most Magical Place on Earth!”

Of course, as a parade participant, we want you to enjoy brunch with President Jeremy D. Brown at 10 a.m. Our parade will kick-off in grand and happy fashion at noon along the internal campus route. With all the Disney magic we can muster, you won’t want to be excluded from this wonderfully happy event.

To participate, simply return the enclosed form no later than Friday, September 11th. Following our receipt of your intent to participate, you’ll receive more specific details, along with Homecoming Parade regulations assuring a safe time for all.

Cruise the Bay Sunset National Drag Races

Oh, what fun was had at the First Annual Sunset National Drag Races at the Cruise the Bay Event, Monday Night!

All these teams joined in for the fun. These people are from the car participant's at the Cruise the Bay event held every Monday Night. They volunteered to be in the event for fun.

As they lined up with their partners, they were given protective gear to wear for their safety. Then they were presented with the ride of the evening....A car creeper...Now anyone who has ever used this devise knows that they have a mind of their own when the are set into motion.

Each team choose a driver and rider and the games began. The track was chalked out next to the DJ stand. The Start and Finish flag girls were in place. Each team took their turn racing down the track for elimination's. The winners crossed the line in a photo finish provided by Ron.

Uncle Charlie's Pizza Car Cruise

Hi Cruisers, Another night another car cruise! There are plenty of cruises in the area just about any night of the week.

Tonight we drove over to Edinboro, and again plenty of cruisers turned out to show and go. The parking lot was lined up with cruisers from all over. Some new cruisers and some of the old favorites. This is a nice show and is held usually on Tuesdays once a month. Check the schedule of events on www.callingallrodders.com for their next event.

DJ Bill Mason was there to play our favorite tunes, door prizes and 50-50's, the air was chilly but the cruisers hung in there and made this another successful event.

So make a point to run out to the next Cruise In at Uncle Charlie's Pizza Pub.

Cruise the Bay Hawaiin Night

Calling All Rodders,

There were lots of grass skirts and flowered leis around the bayfront Monday Night. They were all there to help us have fun at the annual Hawaiian Night for Cruise the Bay participants.

Many joined in the activities and the Hula Hoop contest was a favorite. The adults and children joined in the fun. Our Hula Hoop winners were...Kids...Jennifer Kuhn, Cassie Anderson, Madison Kennedy...Adults...Jill Dimattio, Kitty Holtz, Carol Struchen, Michelle Scheffner. There is always something for everyone to do at the Monday Night Car Cruise.

I want to add alittle note on where we are located. It seems we had a few people having trouble finding us last Monday. We are located at the Park n Ride Facility off the Bayfront Highway next to Sloppy Duck Restaurant. Take I-79 North until it turns into the Bayfront Highway, follow the Bayfront Highway to the water we will be on your left next to the boats in front of Liberty Park.

Another quick note most of you know there was an incident on the Bayfront Highway due to the illegal Burn outs being done. The Park Authority has ask that these burn outs stop and we have asked that they stop also. But a few of you insist on continuing to participate in these burn outs. Someone is going to get hurt and last night incident is a prime example of what can happen in a moments time. Please reconsider participating in this activity, and help keep our event safe. We need to be responsible.

Cruise the Bay Christmas in June

Calling All Rodders,

Well, there is a lot of things to get to tonight. First of all, we would like to thank all of you who helped with parking and you the participants for making the new parking rules run smoothly tonight. We had 217 cars to park this evening. As you noticed you really get to "cruise the bay" to get parked now but this will help keep traffic flowing and keep our event safer. We now cruise around the back of the park to get to our parking area. We also have opened up the parking area behind the DJ stand for show cars. The spectator parking will be back by the playground area and spectators will walk in from that area. Please follow the parking guides and Do Not remove any barricades. there will be no more parking by the curbs. These guidelines have been set up by the Bayfront Parking Authority and will help keep our show running and keep our participants and spectators safe.

Another big thank you goes out to Dennis Christopher for organizing the food drive for the Second Harvest Food Bank. Thank you for your donations to this worthy cause, it was a great success. We collected 237 lbs of food for the Second Harvest Food bank because of your generosity.

DJ Bill provided the music for tonight's event complete with Christmas hits. The Weenie Wagon provides the menu as always it was yummy!!

Tonight was Christmas in June, and car participants came decked out in their red and green to celebrate. Don't forget to check out the "Gallery" and "Cruise the Bay" page on the website to see what they came up with.

We had three winners, Bob Zewe 1st place, Pat & Beth Fedak 2nd Place, and Mr & Mrs Jerry Cattone 3rd place. Fun was had by all.

Cruise the Bay Special Announcement!

Volunteers needed for the remainder of the season!
Please help keep Cruise the Bay!

Because of the overwhelming number of cars at Cruise the Bay safety issues have arisen that need to be addressed and eliminated. In order for Cruise The Bay to continue, the Port Authority has stated that we need to make changes in how the cars are parking so as to keep all roadways open in the event of an emergency. Beginning this Monday, June 29th, with the help of Port Authority staffing, we will be required to implement new cruiser/spectator parking rules and regulations and to obtain volunteers to enforce them for the remainder of the season. The Port Authority staff will be guiding us through the implementation of the new parking procedures and showing us what we need to do. We will need all cruisers to be observant of the new rules and courteous to the Port Authority staff as these changes are made. The Port Authority staff will only be with us on June 29th, but the parking rules will stay in effect for as long as Cruise The Bay is held and they will be strictly enforced through fines and towing as needed. We need immediately people who will work with the Port Authority to help implement and then to continue to enforce the new parking regulations for the rest of the season. Cruise the Bay with Black Diamond

Calling All Rodders,

Well the first day of summer lead into the Cruise the Bay event with over 400 cars again this week. The beautiful setting along with high tempatures makes a great night to come out and visit with your favorite car owner.

Black Diamond Live Band was the musical entertainment for this evenings event. They played many hits from the past for our listening pleasure. If you haven't had a chance to hear them play make sure you come out and see them at many local events this summer.

Jack and Judy are doing a fantastic job at keeping the event running as Erie,s favorite place to be on a Monday night! Don't forget to thank them when you see them for coordinating this event each week, they have many wonderful volunteers that also step up and help each week, with out all of you we would not have a place to socialize with our cars. An event of this size takes alot of time and patience to keep together.

We had all shapes and sizes of cars this week from small British cars, to Big Rigs!
Many different Trucks, and every kind of car and year make it down each week also.

Food is available from the Weemie Wagon they have a special each Monday and it is always very tasty! Plan on attending next Monday Night.

Backyard Burger Cruises Back!

Calling All Rodders,

The evening was a slow start for the Backyard Burger Cruisers. but they turned out just the same. with the weather looming and a couple other show going on tonight they still managed to pull in some cars.

They want you to know that they are back and dispite the parking lot sharing it's space with penndot equipment, there was more than enough room for the cruisers.

They hope to have the equipment moved out and they will have more pavement put in place to accomidate 100 parking spaces plus the grassy areas to park overflow cruisers.

Don't let the street work stop you from coming down and enjoying the Backyard Burger cruises on Friday Nights. There is a full schedule on the events page of the website.

DJ Bill Mason will be there for your listen pleasure and door prizes will be given out along with a 50/50's.

P.S. the Burgers are the best around come on down and join us on Friday Nights.

Cruise the Bay Line Dancing Country Night

Well, we arrived back to the Erie area at about 1200 midnight and went off to work today and got back to the cruisin events tonight. Thank you Judy for filling in and writing the blog last week.

It was Country Music night and Line Dancing contests were the fun for tonight. Over 400 plus cars turned out for the event tonight it was a beautiful night and we packed them into every nook and cranny of the Park n Ride!

I believe it was the biggest show yet. Thank you Erie and surrounding areas for your support and participation. Because of you we continue to want to provide a place for you all to meet and enjoy the iron in our area.

The Weenie wagon was feeding the crowds and DJ Bill was providing the dancing music for us. Many joined the fun when the line dancing started. We had three winning dancers, they were Jan Russell, Tom Barron, And Linda Cattoni.. Although I think every one did a great job and made the evening fun.
